This is a beautiful wine. Enjoy on special occasions with friends and family with a great home cooked roast meal.
Great scent, broad and intense, still closed at first, with coffee and a hint of chocolate, nice vanilla, jams, warm, smoky, complex, with an intense taste, quite firm at a young age, special fruit, cassis, cherries and hee rich juice, vanilla, leather, firm but ripe tannins, special length and complexity. Nice with roasted duck from the oven, ribeye from the grill with braised aubergine, old manchego, and strong Dutch cheeses, such as an old Reijpenaar.

One of the biggest successes, from the outset, for Norma Ratcliffe, was her Trilogy, the proud flagship of her Warwick. Bordeaux blends were long taboo in South Africa, until the spell was broken by the Rubicon of Meerlust. Since then, Cape winemakers have shown that they can make fantastic Bordeaux blends. The freshness of the Stellenbosch climate ensures that these are real "classic" wines, wines that are not inferior in freshness to "real" Bordeaux. Unlike the Three Cape Ladies, intended to be drunk young, the Trilogy is a classic keep wine. Yet the grapes do not undergo a long fermentation on the skins, which lasts no more than about a week. That means that when they enter the basement, they must have an enormous concentration and color. This is reflected in this wine, which, after maturing for 24 months in French oak, 60% of which is new, has an enormous power and concentration. Not a kitten to handle without a glove.
