Sauvignon Blanc 'Sideways'
Exotic and open, very fragrant, hint of grassiness, gooseberries, ripe fruit, guava, nicely dusty, soft and fresh in the taste, hint of artichoke, asparagus, lively, some good acidity, wonderfully pure and clean. Delicious with fish dishes, grilled squid w ith red bell pepper, salad with chicken and asparagus, mussels with garlic.
Although Danie de Wet is considered the South African specialist in Chardonnay wines, his domain, with a gravel substrate, is ideally suited for planting Sauvignon Blanc. It is a matter of choosing the right te rroir, which here consists of a stony bottom of river pebbles that were once deposited by the Breede River. This produces a remarkably fresh and mineral Sauvignon Blanc. Remarkable, because you might not immediately expect that in the warm climate of Robertson. But the cool sea breeze that flows into the valley on a beautiful summer afternoon also does its job. Pure and powerful in taste, wonderfully smooth and beautiful Sauvignon.
