Madécasse Beyond Good – Crispy Rice 73% Cacao - Vegan Pure Chocolate
From the very beginning, Madécasse - now Beyond Good - focused on Madagascar. But they are now also focusing on Uganda. The cocoa from Uganda is refined and goes well with many other flavors.
Located in the far west of Uganda, Bundibugyo is a small town well known for its cocoa production. That's where this cocoa comes from. It is close to the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon, which has incredibly unique and diverse vegetation and flora and is legendary for being the source of the River Nile here.
This project started in 2018. In the meantime, Beyond Good has established the openness / transparency of the cocoa-producing farmers and, together with their co-manufacturer ICAM (Italy), has mapped out a development route to get the supply chain in Uganda where they want it. The goal is to start operating a chocolate factory by 2022, so that Beyond Good can continue to make chocolate at the source here. Like in Madagascar.
The organic cocoa is a mix of forestero and trinitario varieties. This gives an interesting flavor, more in the direction of the traditional chocolate flavor that we all enjoy. The distinct and versatile flavor notes include caramel and apricot, with just a hint of floral.
