Cabernet Sauvignon 'Seaward'
Seaward is a rich and complex wine. The juice has a balanced freshness supplemented with a soft taste reminiscent of oak. The wine is powerful but has a very pleasant mouthfeel. Delicious with semi-raw milk blue cheese and bacon beef burger, or your favorite spaghetti bolognese recipe.

Spier's Seaward wines are made from selected grapes grown in South Africa's best coastal wine regions, located up to 25 km from the Atlantic coast and the waters of False Bay. In the warm summer months, the cooling sea breeze ensures that the grapes can ripen "at ease" for a longer period of time. The cabernet grapes come from vineyards in the Coastal Region of the South African Western Cape. Rich, deep, crumbled granite bottoms have good water retention and give an average tannin structure to the wine. The grapes are harvested by hand after which they are destemmed. The grapes are cold soaked in stainless steel tanks for 2 days to enhance color extraction and fruit retention. After 15 days of fermentation, the juice is transferred to wine barrels to continue malolactic fermentation. The wine barrels are made of 80% French and 20% American oak. The wine is then aged for another 14 months in the same barrels. This results in a fruit-driven and medium to full-bodied wine.
