The Raats family, and in particular winemaker Bruwer Raats, is considered a great specialist in the field of Cabernet-Franc. In the climate of Stellenbosch, this grape appears to do perfectly. It is the ideal combination of lots of sun and freshness from the nearby sea that makes it so good. In the meantime, there are more and more producers who are venturing into it. But for making beautiful Cabernet-Franc, a great knowledge of the grape is of great importance, and Raats keeps his lead in that. This wine is named after the type of weathered granite on which it is planted: "Dolomite". This type of surface gives the Cabernet Franc a special freshness, through a nice acidity. The sticks for this wine vary in age from seven to twenty years, enough to give the wine a nice depth. A little bit of Malbec is added to the wine to round it off nicely. Maturation takes place in used barrels, to make it nice and soft in character, without the wood dominating. Delicious Cabernet Franc, pure, fruity and juicy.
