STELLENBOSCH - SOUTH AFRICA
B Vintners is a Stellenbosch-based wine-growing company, founded by cousins Gavin Bruwer and Bruwer Raats. The cousins take an innovative approach while keeping things simple, which is to feed the grapes to feed from the vine to the bottle. Making the wines express their sense of place.
"We carry our heritage in the Cape of Good Hope and make wines from historic Cape varieties." "Our exploration of unique parcels and the vision for the future leads us to a further discovery to produce terroir specific wines." All vineyards are distinctive, in upland areas, close to the ocean and planted on weathered soils.
Four new, small production wines have been added to the portfolio under the label "B Vintners". The new additions come from the Vine Exploration Co., which was launched by Bruwer Raats, winemaker at Raats Family Wines and the iconic Indaba brand with his cousin Gavin Bruwer. The Stellenbosch-based winegrowing company was established to pay for the fair history of winemaking in the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. Raats and Bruwer explore unique vineyard plots in high-altitude areas near the ocean to find the perfect grapes. Most vines are mature and grown on weathered soils of decomposed granite. The grapes are carefully selected and picked at the optimal time for the best expression of the terroir. In order to express each bottle freely, the wines are made with little or no intervention. The portfolio consists of two series: Heritage and Terroir Specific. The Heritage series includes the Haarlem to Hope, a mix of mainly Chenin Blanc and Semillon. The Terroir Wines are Reservoir Road Pinot Noir, Black Bream Pinot Noir and Fire Heath Chardonnay.
A very unique fact about B Vintners is that it is owned by 2 adventurous cousins. They decided to explore and see what they can do wine-wise with the different areas and soil in the Cape of Good area.
